What is Spam?

Spam is unsolicited email, also known as UCE (Unsolicited Commercial Email).

An email is spam if:

  • The personal identity and context of the recipient are irrelevant, as the message is equally applicable to many other potential recipients.

  • The recipient has not demonstrably given conscious, express, and still revocable permission for the mailing to take place.

  • Sending and receiving the message appears to the recipient to be disproportionately beneficial to the sender.

What is an existing business relationship?

The recipient of your email has made a purchase, requested information, responded to a questionnaire or survey, or contacted you offline.

What is consent?

The recipient of your email has been clearly and fully informed of the collection and use of their email address and has consented prior to collection and use. This is often referred to as informed consent.
